Microsoft co-founder diagnosed with cancer

Paul Allen diagnosed with cancer
San Francisco, Nov 17: Microsoft Corp co-founder Paul Allen has reportedly been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment to beat it.

A company spokesperson on Monday, Nov 16 announced that Allen has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma which is a cancer of the body's lymphatic system. Since it affects the white blood cells of the body the person's immunity will be affected and in turn his disease-fighting ability.

Employees of Vulcan Inc were informed of Allen's illness in a company email on Monday, Nov 16. Vulcan Inc was formed in 1986 by Allen to manage his business dealings and philanthropic activity.

Media reports quote Vulcan spokesman David Postman as saying that Allen was "feeling pretty good and remaining pretty active."

He also informed that Allen did not plan on changing his role at Vulcan.

In 1975, Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft with Bill Gates. He resigned as an executive in 1983, which was the same year he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease but his cancer was successfully treated.
