Centre, State to discuss land related worries

New Delhi, Nov 17 (ANI): The Centre will on Tuesday hold talks with State Industry ministers on problems faced by the domestic and foreign investors in relation to land acquisition.

Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma is expected to discuss these issues keeping in view the increasing agitations in various parts of the country.

Large scale protests have been witnessed in the eastern part of the country against the acquisition of land for industrial works.

The Centre is worried that this will be a hindrance for the larger plans like the Rs 1 lakh crore steel projects of ArcelorMittal in Orissa and Jharkhand.

The proposal that farmers who are parting with their assets be made equity owners in the upcoming projects may also come up for discussion, said an official.

It will also be discussed as to how the states lagging behind in industrialization would prosper. (ANI)
