50 million US families went hungry  in 2008
Washington, Nov 17: Global economic recession in 2008 not only deprived people of their job but also made the Americans food insecure.

According to a government data released on Nov 16, one in seven US households went without enough food throughout the year.

"It is particularly troubling that there were more than 500,000 families in which a child experienced hunger multiple times over the course of the year," Obama said, adding that he would reverse the painful trend across the community which increased the demand for government food stamp.

The hunger rate in 2008 was 14.6 percent which was highest since the records began in 1995.

The survey conducted on 44,000 households showed that economic global recession which began in 2007 left almost 50 million families without enough resource to provide for their families.
