Bal Thackeray slams Sachin over Marathi remark

Bal Thackeray slams Sachin over Marathi remark
Mumbai, Nov 16: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has slammed master blaster Sachin Tendulkar for his statement that he is an Indian first and then a Maharashtrian.

In an article, which appeared in the party mouthpiece Saamna, Thackrey said Sachin should just concentrate on cricket and stay away from politics.

He also warned Sachin that he should not lose the goodwill he has earned in cricket by getting into the political arena."When Marathis shed their blood for Mumbai you weren't even born, you have been run out on the Marathi pitch," he added.

Earlier, addressing a press meet on the eve of completing 20 years in international cricket, Sachin had said, "Mumbai belongs to India. I am a Maharashtrian and am extremely proud to proud of that, but I am an Indian first."

Thackeray lashes at CPM for Nandigram crisis

Mumbai, Nov 16: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray today lashed out at the CPM for unleashing a reign of terror in Nandigram and accused the Congress of being a mute spectator to ensure survival of its own coalition government at the Centre. Describing the Marxists as ''blood thirsty devils'', Mr Thackeray said he always held that the Marxists, who boast of morality and preach values to the world, were a blot on humanity. Indian patriotism is indeed being shoved down our throats these days. Everybody is standing up for an India whose past they hardly know about. India is like an understanding between the various regions in that geography that have faced invasions and conquests from foreign warlords in the past to stand up for each other. Other than that there is nothing that binds India together. To me a Hindi, a Punjab or an Assam is as alien as Winston Churchill himself!! Why should I be forced to accept Hindi or a northerner or an easterner or wherever a person’s from in my land, the land where my people have lived for thousands of years, EMPHATICALLY? And I respect the sentiments of Hindi’s in the north and other inhabitants of the north as to how they feel when some of my brothers go over there and try to speak Tamil or any other southern language instead of learning Hindi or whatever language they speak over there. If Hindi’s want to live in the south they have to adapt to the southern culture, they have to speak the language and respect the sentiments of these people, not show this patriotic smidgen. And for those who are talking about 26/11 the Marathas were able to successfully defend themselves much before India was born during the reign of Shivaji. Today’s Mumbai is more of a bane than a global city or whatever the muck these “brand name loving” people are talking about to the average Maratha. If they want their hogwash about this brand name why not bring the British back and rename India back to its colonial name, sounds more brand friendly than “India”.

Lekarshi, If you cant stand patriotism, then you rather not call yourself Indian citizen, and rather move to some place like Lanka and join your brother's there. Talking about the past, then each country has had a past and nothing can deny that. Can Germany ever deny the holocaust? Lets talk about where the country stands today? Its a democratic republic where you should have the freedom of language, location or anything anywhere. So why the barriers of unacceptance. I have lot of Tamilian friends at my work place, and its sure offending when you speak a different language in a group coz its not understandable to the rest, but no one unaccepts you for the fact that you are from a different region and speak a different language. There are a lot of things that we "Indians" as a whole need to achieve and fight for rather than fighting in the countries internal matters. I live in US and here there are more Andra guys and Gujrati's than hindi speaking but no one would mess or complaint or fight over anything because they know that they have a stronger law on top of them here which would kick @$$es so they would rather not think that way. Here there are lot of language barriers as I very frequently come across Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Russian and a whole lot of different language speaking people but they have gotten over their language barriers and no one pushes them when they are on their own to speak English. So chill and strive for higher cause. "Indian First"

These (MNS & Shivsena) are the real extremists! They are trying to create terror in the minds of the public, hence they are terrorists as well! I guess if we accept the logic of MNS & kick all Marathi Manhoos out of each state, they'll go back to Maharashtra and live happily jobless & pennyless.
