Policemen embark on bicycle rally to spread message of unity

New Delhi, Nov. 15 (ANI): With an aim to spread the message of unity and national integration amongst people, police officers embarked on a bicycle rally from Srinagar to Kanyakumari on Sunday.

The cyclists would cover a distance of about 3,800 kilometres in 35 days.

" We want to inform masses what the police personnel both from provincial police services and central police organisations are doing in fighting terrorism, Maoists, maintaining law and order, in general, ensuring growth and development of the country," said G.U.G. Shastry, Inspector General of Police and Joint Director, National Police Academy.

"The main motive of the National Police Academy and the Indian Police is to inform masses about the Police. These activities will also help in maintaining national integration besides boosting the cooperation between public and police. I think this is a praiseworthy and remarkable step," added Kishan Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police, Delhi.

The rallyists include, JVJ Sandho, Joint Director of Haryana Police, Ajay Kumar Nand, Assistant Director of the NPA.

After traversing the Himalayas and criss-crossing the Indo-Gangetic plains, the rallyists will pedal through the Deccan plateau before reaching the Indian Ocean coast. (ANI)

6 bandits die in shootout with Bangladesh police
