New Delhi, Nov 11: Authorities are seriously mulling over passing a rule that would put people behind the bars for using cell phones while driving. The transport ministry is not ready to even spare those speaking on the hands-free devices or sending and reading SMSes while driving.
There are reports the the government will be soon passing a rule to empower the traffic police to hand out the six months imprisonment to those caught talking on the phone while on the road.
These measures come to reduce the number of accidents caused by this undesirable habit. The traffic police will soon be given the power to enforce these provisions.

If the rule is passed, the perpetrators will have to pay up a fine of Rs 2000 or face imprisonment or both. And in the case of an accident, driver's license would be suspended for six months.These measures come to reduce the number of accidents caused by this undesirable habit. The traffic police will soon be given the power to enforce these provisions.
