India to set up 14 new universities: Sam Pitroda

Sam Pitroda
New Delhi, Nov 11: The country will soon set up 14 new Innovation Universities to address future education requirements of India, said Sam Pitroda, Adviser to Prime Minister on Public Information Infrastructure and Innovations.

"The Universities of 2050 would function differently from the way they work currently," he said during the closing day of the 25th India Economic Summit organised by World Economic Forum and the CII.

Technology should be leveraged more efficiently to create inclusive growth, Pitroda said.

He further said that information technology should be used to increase productivity and reduce leakages in the government system.

Currently, the world"s brains are engaged in solving the problems of the rich. Problems of the poor are more complex, and require innovative solutions, he added.
