chennaionline.com, 10 Nov 2009

Latehar (Jharkhand), Nov 10: In a series of school attacks by Maoists, a school building was blown up at Banbirua in Jharkhand's Latehar on Tuesday, Nov 10.

Kuldip Diwedi, Superintendent of Police said that a group of armed Maoists  blasted the school late at night after stuffing it with dynamites, adding that a team of police personnel has launched a raid against the Maoists guerrillas.

The school was blown to prevent it from being used as make-shift camp by security forces for the coming five-phase assembly elections from Nov 25.

On Nov 5 a middle school building at Asona village of Chatra, around 190 km from state capital Ranchi, was blown by the Maoists for the same reason.

Security forces make use of school buildings for their anti-Maoists Operations.
