Assam bypolls: Cong wins both seats
Guwahati, Nov 10: Ruling Congress party has bagged both assembly constituencies on Tuesday, Nov 10, defeating opposition candidates by convincing margins.

Wajed Ali Choudhury defeated Asom United Democratic Front"s (AUDF) Abdur Rahman Ajmal, son of party chief Badruddin Ajmal, by more than 6,000 votes in the South Salmara seat in western Assam.

Bhimananda Tanti won from Dhekiajulu, defeating Asom Gana Parishad"s (SGP) Shib Charan Sahu by more than 21,000 votes.

Behraich, Jun 26: A woman candidate of district panchayat member by-election was killed in a road accident here. The mishap was reported from Motipur area, where the ill-fated vehicle carrying Renu for bypoll campaign turned turtle and fell into a gorge yesterday. The woman died on the spot, while six passengers, who sustained severe injuries, have been admitted to hospital.
