Indian attacked & told 'no home for you' in Oz

Indians suffer attacks in Australia
Melbourne, Nov 9: 22-year-old Sai Ratan Tiwari became the latest victim to alleged 'racist' attacks in Australia on Sunday, Nov 8 when he was beaten up by a group of locals in Melbourne before being told that there is 'no home' for him there.

"They punched on my face and told me 'in this place there is no home for you'," Tiwari, who hails from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, said.

The attack took place when Tiwari and his friend were on their way to a temple. When they were stopped by the attackers and questioned as to where they were going.

Tiwari recollects that he told them that they were heading home as he was too scared to disclose their original plans.

"We called the police. They arrived after 10 minutes and after that the ambulance arrived. I was unconscious because I had lost a lot of blood," Tiwari said, adding that the attackers snatched his friend's phone and fled the scene when they tried to call the police.

The victim refused to go to a hospital and was treated in an on-site ambulance. The incident has been reported to Frankton Police Station and Tiwari has already contacted the Indian Consulate General's office in Melbourne which has given him a doctor's number for any further treatment.

Tiwari who is pursuing Bachelors of Information Systems in Ballarat University, landed in Australia about a year ago.
