Melbourne, November 9 (ANI): A 12-year-old girl in Australia who became pregnant with her 15-year-old live-in boyfriend's child has given birth to a baby boy with the help of an emergency caesarean.
The New South Wales Department of Community Services (DoCS) apologised earlier this year when it was found that the girl's father had warned authorities his daughter and her boyfriend were sleeping together at her mother's house.
The girl's father recently told Woman's Day that he fears his little girl is not ready fulfil the duties of a mother.
"She is only a baby herself and now she's got a baby," News.com.au quoted him as saying.
"She has no maternal instincts at all. She never even played with dolls when she was younger. She never played at being a mummy. This breaks my heart," he added.
Minister for Community Services Linda Burney in June confessed the case was missed by a "stretched" department.
Her spokesperson told the Daily Telegraph: "We get 300,000 notifications every year and there isn't anybody collating the figures of child pregnancies." (ANI)
