Malaysian education ministry urged to allow Indian students to take Tamil paper

Kuala Lumpur, Nov. 7 (ANI): In a memorandum submitted to the Malaysian Education Ministry, eleven Malay-Indian organisation have asked the ministry to allow Indian students to take Tamil Literature as an additional subject in the SPM examination

In their memorandum, the organizations suggested that the ministry should give an option to Indian students to drop the Moral Studies paper if it was firm in its decision for SPM students to take only 10 subjects.

Human Resources Minister. S.Subramaniam, who received the memorandum on behalf the Education Minister, said the matter would be discussed at the next Cabinet meeting.

He urged the Education ministry to find a solution to the matter before the start of the school term next year. (ANI)

Malaysian Indian Congress leader sacked for criticizing party

Petaling Jaya (Malaysia), Jan.25 (ANI): Former Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) vice-president M. Muthupalaniappan has been sacked for making statements against the party.According to the Star, Muthupalaniappan was sacked more than a month after receiving a show cause notice from the MIC disciplinary committee following a complaint over his alleged statements in a Tamil newspaper on November 11, 2008 and on an Internet news portal on December 17, 2008.Party disciplinary committee chairman G. Vadiveloo said a letter was sent.....
