Civil nuclear pact signed by India-EU
New Delhi, Nov 7: A civil nuclear pact was signed by India and Europian Union (EU) on Friday, Nov 6.

The pact was signed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Swedish Prime Minister Fredik Reinfeldt and European Commission President Jose Manuel Borosso as part of the talk during 10 Summit.

Calling it to be the outcome of 10 summit, Manmohan Singh said that the pact will highlight the importance of energy security and clean energy.

The agreement on collaborative fusion research which is aimed at intensifying cooperation in developing scientific understanding and technical capability was signed by Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar from the Indian side and European Commsioner for External Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner from the EU side.

The agreement which underlines fusion system at a long term will incorporate specific agenda beyond multi-nation International Thermonuclear Experimental Research (ITER) project, of which India is already part of.
