Mufti leads protest against pre-paid mobiles ban
Srinagar, Nov 6: Protesting against the government decision to ban prepaid mobile phone facilities in Jammu Kashmir, the state's opposition party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) undertook a peaceful march to Lal Chowk on Friday, Nov 6.

"The decision casts a shadow of doubt on the entire ten million population of the state," Mehbooba Mufti who was leading the march told reporters.

Citing security reasons, the Home Ministry asked the service providers to withdraw prepaid mobile facilities from the state. The decision was taken after the ministry received information that these facilities were being misused by separatists.

Earlier, New and Renewable Energy minister, Farooq Abdullah also condemned this move by the government saying that by doing this, the government essentially treated everyone in the state as a militant.

This move has affected as many as four million subscribers apart from costing 20,000 locals their livelihood.
