Delhi reels under Dengue
New Delhi, Nov 6: After Swine flu, the nation's capital has been severely hit by Dengue. On Thursday, Nov 5 Delhi recorded as many as 26 fresh cases of Dengue, which is the the highest recorded in a single day this season, taking the total number of cases to 464.

"There were 26 fresh cases of dengue confirmed today (Thursday, Nov 5). This takes the total number of cases to 464," Chief Medical Officer, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) NK Yadav said.

Following this, Delhi Mayor Kanwar Sain ordered health officers to take immediate action to stop the spread of the vector-borne disease.

"Of the 464 dengue cases that have been reported from Delhi, 380 cases are from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's jurisdiction," Sain said.

A pamphlet containing information to educate the citizens to check the breeding of mosquito responsible for spread of the disease has been released in the state and all the 12 municipal zones have been given fogging machines and these will do rounds in the morning and evening, Sain informed.

As of Thursday, Nov 5, Dengue has claimed two lives including that of a 15-year-old boy and that of a nine-year-old boy.
