13 Indian fishermen arrested in Pak
Islamabad, Nov 6: 13 Indian fishermen were arrested by Pakistan's Maritime Security Agency on Friday, Nov 5 for allegedly trawling in Pakistani territorial waters in the Arabian Sea.

"Our officials seized three Indian fishing boats, arrested 13 crew members 55 nautical miles inside our territorial waters and they have been handed over to the police," MSA spokesman Lieutenant Commander Shakeel Ahmed Khan was quoted, as saying.

"The arrested crew members seem to be fishermen, but they are still being interrogated by the relevant security organs to establish their exact identity and intent for operating in our waters," he added.

India and Pakistan frequently arrest each other's fishermen over violation of maritime boundary. Hundreds of them are swapped regularly.

According to statistics, over 100 Pakistani fishermen are languishing in Indian jails while nearly 500 Indian fishermen are in Pakistani prisons.
