Gas dispute: SC judge withdraws from Ambani case

SC judge withdraws from Ambani brother's case
New Delhi, Nov 4: The Ambani gas dispute case took a new turn on Wednesday, Nov 4 with Supreme Court Judge RV Raveendran pulling out himself from the case.

Justice Raveendran, who is hearing the case, excused himself saying that he is unwilling to be part the bench hearing the case as his daughter works for a law firm is advising Mukesh Ambani's RIL in the case.

The Chief Justice of India will have to reconstitute the bench to start the hearing afresh.

Besides Raveendran, the present bench comprised of Chief Justice KG Balakrishan and Justice P Sathasivam.

The two brothers are fighting over supply of gas from Mukesh Ambani-promoted Reliance Industries Ltd's (RIL) in the Krishna-Godavari (KG) basin to Anil Ambani's Reliance Natural Resources Ltd (RNRL).

The Anil Ambani Group wants 28 million units of gas per day for 17 years at $2.34 per unit. But Reliance Industries wants to sell it for $4.20 per unit, claiming this was the price approved by the government.

It is suprising it took 6 days for the judge to realise that his daughter worked for this firm. This nothing but a waste of tax payers money..
