Australia fined for slow over-rate in Mohali ODI

Dubai, Nov 3 (ANI): The Australian team has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their 24-run victory over India in the fourth ODI at Mohali on Tuesday.

Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines after Ricky Ponting's side was ruled to be two overs short of its target at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing over-rate penalties, players are fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

As such, Ponting was fined 20 per cent of his match fee while his players received 10-per-cent fines.

The offence is contrary to Section J of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to slow over-rates. For such offences, the decision f the ICC match referee is final and binding. (ANI)

Home detention for Dr Mohamed Haneef

Melbourne, July 27: Charges against Indian doctor Mohamed Haneef may have been dropped, but he would still be kept under detention till the Immigration Department decides whether to reinstate his visa or deport him. But it would come as a relief to the Indian doctor, his family and supporters that Haneef would not be moved to Immigration Detention as charges against him have been dropped now.
