Raj Thackeray wants MLAs to take oath in Marathi

Mumbai, Nov 2: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief, Raj Thackeray has demanded that all the MLAs in the newly elected legislative assembly must take oath 'only in Marathi' or face the wrath of his party members.

"The House will witness what my MLAs will do if anyone dares take oath in other language," Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief said on Monday, Nov 2.

"In Karnataka, a Marathi-speaking MLA was expelled from the House as he could not speak in Kannada. Will our legislators show the same attitude about Marathi," Raj said.

In the recently concluded 2009 Maharashtra Assembly Polls, Raj Thackeray's party which is based on the 'Marathi manoos' agenda won 13 seats in the 288-member legislative.

MNS to celebrate Shivaji Jayanti on Mar 24

Mumbai, Mar 23: Preparations for the Shivaji Jayanti celebrations organised by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are on the verge of completion at Shivaji Park, Dadar here. Speaking to to the sources, MNS office bearer Sandeep Deshpande said around 40,000 to 50,000 people from the State are expected to take part in the celebrations. He is the only person in India today who dares to protect the rights of a State and it's language. We Tamils will fully stand by Raj Thackeray. If Hindi people sitting in Maharashtra Assembly says they won't speak Marathi and that too with media support, it clearly shows the respect hindi people & Indian media has towards the Non-hindi languages. Today media and elite people are using the word 'Cosmopolitan' to kick off local language of Indian States. If Marathi cannot be spoken in the Assembly of Maharashtra, where else it can be spoken??
