PM greets nation ahead of Guru Nanak Jayanti

New Delhi, Nov 1 (ANI): Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today greeted the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, which will be celebrated on Monday.

In his message, Dr. Singh said that the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, of peace and unity are very relevant in today's world.

"A Society without discrimination and distinction - the vision of Guru Nanakji is the vision towards which we should strive," he added.

The anniversaries of Sikh Gurus are known as Gurpurabs (festivals), and celebrated by Sikhs with devotion.

Gurpurabs mark the culmination of Prabhat Pheris, the early morning procession that starts from the gurdwaras and then goes around localities singing shabads (hymns).

The celebrations also include the three-day Akhand path, during which the Guru Granth Sahib is read continuously, from beginning o end without a break. (ANI)

Bhutto flayed for seeking intl help to probe

Islamabad, Oct 25: Flaying the demand for engaging foreign experts in the probe into Karachi blasts, Pakistan Information and Broadcasting Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani said former prime minister Benazir Bhutto ''wants to rule Pakistan while residing in London''. ''If Ms Bhutto wants to employ foreigners for the investigations, she should also seek votes from them and not from the Pakistani people,'' the Minister said. He said expressing doubts about national institutions and experts was equal to having distrust in the country.....
