Govt all set to launch anti-Naxal operations

New Delhi, Nov 1: The Government is all set to launch the full-fledged anti-Naxal operations at three different areas, considered trijunctions of worst Naxal-affected states.

The trijunctions which have been identified for the offensive are Andhra Pradesh-Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh; Orissa-Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh and West Bengal-Jharkhand-Orissa.

According to Home ministry sources, around 40,000 paramilitary personnel will assist the respective state police forces during the operations that will be launched soon.

Almost 7,000 specially-trained troops in jungle warfare are also part of the total strength of the central forces to be deployed for the task.

The anti-naxal plan also includes Rs 7,300 crore package for unleashing developmental works in areas cleared off the Left-wing extremists.

Officials noted that Naxal menace, which now spread to 40,000 sq km area across India, can be wiped out in a period of 12 to 30 months.

Orissa police arrest three Maoists

Baripada, May 22: Mayurbhanj police have arrested three Maoists, the main suspects of May 8 murder of forester Ravindra Nath Patra in Orissa. The Maoist gunmen had attacked the Sargada forest beat and shot dead the forester under Rairangpur range. Police said the arrested Maoists were also allegedly involved in a landmine blast at Sargada- Chadheipahada Road on May nine. They have been identified as Shastri Nayak of Lado village, Matka Majhi alias.....
