New Delhi, Oct 31: All India Sikh Students Federation (AISS) has decided to commemorate 25 years of anti-Sikh riot though major protest outside the Kakardooma Court for the next two days, in the wake of of Tyler case hearing scheduled on Oct 31.

"We are staging a protest outside the Court in view of Tyler Case hearing scheduled for Saturday. We will submit a memorandum to president Pratibha Patil after a similar protest led by Sardar Simranjeet Sing of Akali Dal ," said Karnal Singh, President of AISS.

The memorandum containing the number of Sikhs killed in the riot in Delhi and other northern cities based on a finding from RTI will also be handed over to other MPs after the 'march for justice' from Gurudwara Bangla Sahib on Nov 1.

"We will demand that there be detailed census as to how many Sikhs have been killed in the first week of the riots here. We also want charges to filed in cases where there are  eyewitness with the help of Crime Bureau of Investigation.


Its been since 25 years since the anti-Sikh riot was passed following Indira Gandhi's assassination but the culprit behind the incident is yet to be punished. There was a lot of protest when UPA when considering to offer Lok Sabha ticket to Jagdish Tytler, the prime accused in the anti-Sikh riot. Eventually the decision was withdrawn following widespread protest from the Sikh Community.

The decision also led to a Sikh journalist Jarnail Singh throwing shoe at Home Minister P Chidambaram at a press Conference in New Delhi.
