Washington, Oct 30: Issuing yet another travel advisory on India, the US state department has asked its citizens to stay alert during their travel in the country stating that the US government continues to receive information that terrorist groups may be planning attacks in India.
This comes days after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) foiled a terror plot. The FBI said that the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba was plotting to carry out terrorist attack in India using an American.
"US citizens are urged always to practise good security, maintain a heightened situational awareness and a low profile," the Bureau of Consular Affairs of the State Department said in the latest travel advisory which remains valid till Jan 28, 2010.
"Terrorists and their sympathisers have demonstrated their willingness and capability to attack targets where Americans or Westerners are known to congregate or visit," the advisory said before reminding US citizens of the Nov 2008 Mumbai Terror attacks during which hotels and other public places were targeted.
"Americans are advised to monitor local news reports and consider the level of security present when visiting public places, including religious sites, or choosing hotels, restaurants, entertainment and recreation venues," the alert added.
This advisory replaces the previous one issued during the festival season.
