Washington, Oct 29: Noted English novelist, VS Naipaul was registered dead in an FBI footnote. The swearing in testimony of special agent Lorenzo Benedict addresses the Indian origin author as 'the late VS Naipual'.

The goof up came to light when The Smoking Gun ,an entertainment and crime website carried an affidavit in which, the Nobel Laureate was referred to as "the late VS Naipaul,a Nobel prize winning author' in the swearing in testimony of  Lorenzo Benedict in a document unsealed before the Chicago High court. Lorenzo was presenting the case of the David Headley and Tahawwur Hussain, the two accused in plotting terror attacks against India.

Naipual was mentioned in connection with his second wife Nadira,a Pakistani journalist.

Kandahar hijack case: Pak still sheltering accused

New Delhi, Feb 5: Ruing lack of international cooperation against fighting terror, the CBI today said its work was inconclusive in the 1999 Kandahar hijack case despite a court handing down life sentences to three accused in the case. ''Until there is international cooperation, success in the war on terror will remain elusive,'' CBI Director Vijay Shankar told the media, adding ''We are not satisfied with today's development.''
