Ranchi, Oct 28: Nirmal Kumar Toppo, the Circle Officer of Keredari block of Hazaribagh district, became the latest victim in the list of Maoist abductions in Jharkhand on Tuesday, Oct 27.

Toppo is suspected to be kidnapped by Tritiya Prastuti Committee, a Maoist Organisation, with his driver DP Yadav while he was returning home after an inspection work in Giridh in the evening.

Police claim that Toppo's car was stopped near Patra bridge,130 km from Ranchi. They are now interrogating Yadav who was released after being beaten up by the kidnapper.

Earlier another Circle Officer of Panki, Alok Kumar was abducted by Jharkhand Liberation Tiger (JLT)in Aug 2009. But was released a day later on Sep 1, 2009.

The abduction which came as at the wake of the bandh called by the outfit is believed to have an impact on the meeting covened to tackle the growing activities by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

'Centre to set up 15 MT power plant in J'khand'

Ranchi, Jul 21: Steel Minister Ramvilas Paswan today said the Centre was ready to set up a steel plant having a capacity of 15 million tonnes in Jharkhand if the state government ensures to provide two out of three billion tonnes of iron ore produced by Chiria mines. Talking to reporters at the Birsa Munda airport here, Mr Pawswan said the plant would be set up as per state government's choice as soon as the matter.....
