India ready for talks with Pak for JK peace: PM

Anantnag, Oct 28: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday, Oct 28 said that the Government was ready to talk with any group in Jammu Kashmir which is seeking peace in the troubled state.

Addressing the gathering here, Prime Minister said, "I wish to say again today that we are willing to talk to anyone who has any meaningful ideas for promoting peace and development in Kashmir.

"We want to carry all sections of the people with us in resolving the political and economic problems of Jammu Kashmir, " Singh said.

Singh also flagged off a new train service on the 18-km track linking south Kashmir with Srinagar and other places in the north of the valley.

The 18-km stretch will be of huge socio-economic and political significance to the militancy-affected Kashmir Valley.

Singh and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday, Oct 28 on a two-day visit.
