New Delhi, Oct 28: Enraged that their daughter married a man from the same caste despite their opposition, the girl's family members allegedly killed her husband and held her captive to be repeatedly raped by her relatives

The married woman who was held captive by her very own family members was subjected to sexual abuse till she managed to escape and approach the police.

The incident came to light on Tuesday, Oct 27 after the police arrested four family members in connection to the case. Daya Singh (50), Sandeep (23), Inderjeet Singh (19), and Krishan (19) were arrested from Sonepat in Haryana Monday, Oct 26.

The accused murdered 24-year-old Virender Singh in Narela area of outer Delhi last week. After killing him, they allegedly took the body to Sonepat, where it was tied with a heavy stone and dumped in a canal.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer Delhi) Atul Katiyar said that the reason behind the killing was a love affair and marriage between her and Virender.

The couple belonging to the same caste and village Mahara, fell in love with each other during their schooling. Since their families opposed their marriage, the couple fled in 2006.

But the family filed a kidnap case against Vijender. And when he was in jail, the girl was married to Jaipal, who abused her after he came to know about her relationship with Virender.

The girl left Jaipal"s house and started living with Virender in Delhi and later got married in Chandigarh. On Oct 17, they were tricked into attending Diwali at Sandeep's home where Vijender was strangled to death while Sandeep and Inderjeet raped his wife.
