220 flood prone villages being relocated

Bangalore, Oct 27: 220 flood affected villages are being relocated starting Oct 25. Shri kshetra Dharmasthala entrusted with constructing 1,000 houses under Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development project has started its construction work in Kongawada villages.

Briefing reporters after his meeting with DR D Heggade. the Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, Chief Minister BS Yedyurappa said that the foundation stone for 50 relocated areas will be laid in the next ten to twelve days and the complete relocation of the flood affected victims will be completed within a period of six months at the the proposed cost of 1 lakh for each flood victims including a backyard shed for rearing cows.

Heggade said that the relocated areas identified by by the government will have Self Help Groups from January.

Bhubaneswar, July 10: The flash floods caused by torrential rains in Balasore and Bhadrak districts of Orissa have so far claimed 16 lives and affected over a million people, official sources said here today. Balasore district, worst affected by the flood claimed 13 lives while three deaths were reported in Bhadrak district. LS urges govt to find a lasting solution to floods

New Delhi, Aug 24: Members of the Lok Sabha today urged the Government to initiate measures for finding a lasting solution to prevent devastation caused by annual floods. Members, both from Opposition and Treasury benches, were united in their view that crores of rupees were spent every year to meet the situation arising out of floods but not much attention had been paid to find a ''lasting solution'' to the menace. The members said most of states affected by floods, particularly Bihar,.....
