Andhra Pradesh: 11 lose vision after surgery at free eye camp
Nellore, Oct 26: Eleven people have lost their eyesight and twenty others have been hospitalised with eye infection after they underwent a surgery at a 'free eye camp' organised by a private corporate hospital last week in Andhra Pradesh.

The patients were later shifted to a leading corporate eye hospital in Chennai.

Five out of the six people reportedly lost vision because of infection in the Chennai hospital while a total of 11 people have lost their vision due to the infection.

There are 20 other patients who are still undergoing treatment in Shanker Netralayam at Chennai.

While hospital sources claim that the infection could have been due to eye drops and other chemical used and due to the surgery it self, an investigation has been launched into the incident.
