Mumbai, Oct 24: Just a day after Bal Thackeray lashed out at the people of Maharashtra for 'pushing the state into hell' by voting for the Congress- Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance in the assembly polls, the Shiv Sena supremo has launched yet another attack specifically against Maharashtrians.
Still distressed over the defeat of the Shiv Sena in the the 2009 Maharashtra Assembly Elections, Bal Thackeray on Saturday, Oct 24 said that it was not the 'outsiders' but it was the Maharashtrians who betrayed him.
In an editorial piece in Saamna, Bal Thackeray quoted a English newspaper headline which read 'MNS gives Cong Raj a hand', and said, "This sums it all".
"There is an evil spirit that is separating me from you (Marathi people) and not allowing a meeting of minds," he wrote in the party mouthpiece.
"I do not have any hope that even this writing will have any influence on your thinking. In fact, I have lost faith in everything, including Maharashtrians and also God. I am at great pains to make this statement but I have no desire to hide the truth and indulge in self-deception," the 84-year-old politician said.
Thackeray went on to question why the 'Marathi Manoos' failed to vote for the organisation that was born for him and strives to support him always.
In alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena has ruled the state from 1995 to 1999. However, in the results announced on Thursday, Oct 22 the ruling Congress-NCP alliance managed to secure 144 seats in 288-member assembly wile Bal Thackeray's nephew, Raj Thackeray's party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) too managed to split the BJP-Sena votes.

"I have given vent to my feelings to relieve my anguish. I devoted 44 years of my life for you. I do not know what crime I have committed and where I have gone wrong. If the dead minds of Maharashtrians are not going to be resurrected, I should not subject myself to this agony," he added.
