Lahore, Oct.24 (ANI): Upset over being axed from all the three national squads, Pakistan middle order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq has vowed to make a comeback in the national team through his performance.

The 37-year-old right hand batsman said age was not a factor for him as there are players more senior to him who are playing competitive international cricket at present.

"I don't think age is any bar from performing well. Sanath Jayasuriya is still going strong on 40 and I am also very fit and will keep on doing my best. As long as one is fit one can play at any age," The Daily Times quoted Haq, as saying.

Haq said he was disappointed over being dropped from all the three national sides and added that the selectors have overlooked him despite him doing fairly well in the recent past.

"There is no other issue with me and the selectors have taken a decision they think is right. I can only keep on giving my best. I was not expecting that they would drop me from all teams. I am really disappointed. I don't know why they have not considered me for any team and I am in good form," he said.

Barely hours after getting dropped, he hammered a career best 284 runs against a domestic side indicating that he still has the hunger to play and do well for the country.

Talking to media persons after his record-breaking innings, he said there was no better way to silence his critics than scoring runs.

"There is no better way to prove your critics wrong than by scoring runs and I will prove that my age is not a hurdle in my career. I will definitely work my way back into the team," Haq said. (ANI)
