Pak army closing in on Taliban strongholds

Islamabad, Oct 17: After suffering multiple terror strikes over the past few days, Pakistan government has given its go ahead to the country's army to launch offensive against the Taliban in the militant group's strong hold in Waziristan tribal areas.

The army has begun advancing towards the former Taliban chief, Baitullah Mehsud's tribal positions on Saturday, Oct 17. Baitullah Mehsud, the late head of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), is believed to have been killed in a US drone attack about a month ago.

The authorities have imposed a curfew in the North and South Waziristan while the troops move in on strongholds of the militant group which now being led by Hakimullah Mehsud.

A fake call from India last weekend almost led to war with Pakistan
