World peace mission reaches Kerala

Thrissur (Kerala), Oct 16 (ANI): A four-member team of foreigners, on a mission across more than 20 countries round the globe to spread the message of peace and non-violence, reached here on Thursday.

The delegation comprising of two women from Spain and a couple from the United States commenced their tour named 'World March for Peace and Non-Violence' from New Zealand on October 2.

The tour was initiated by the 'World Without Wars', an international organisation launched by the Humanist Movement, which works for pacifism and non-violence.

The main objective of the march is to give voice to those who want peace and are against any form of violence, be it military, economic, racial, religious or sexual.

During their visit to Kerala, representatives from different cultures and religions including 200 students, participated in an interaction function held in Thrissur.

The delegation and people present lit wax candles and took a pledge for world peace and non-violence.

"So far we have only visited four countries, but we still have 18 or more to go. So I will not see my family for about three months. I am very privileged to be doing this," said Syndia, a delegate from California, US.

"So far, it has been very successful. We didn't know about each other's existence, are now networking. We are going to join all of the people in one voice globally for historic adventure and learning," said Charles Lasater, Syndia's partner.

Activists of about 3,000 organisations will join the world peace tour delegates at different places on their 116,000-kms long march, the organisers said.

The delegation arrived in Kerala on Wednesday and left for Seoul, South Korea later on Thursday.

The three-month-long march will conclude in Argentina in January next year. (ANI)
