Recession-hit Berlin brothel offers 'green discount' to cyclists!

London, Oct 16 (ANI): Economic crisis has led a Berlin brothel to take recourse to new way of alluring clients - people coming to the brothel on bicycles and other public transport are given 'green discounts'.

About 10 percent of those coming to the brothel now avail the green discount and pay 25 euros, instead of the regular 30 euros."Everyone's a winner.... The environment is a topic on everyone's lips and it's pretty difficult to park around here. So we came up with the idea of an 'eco discount' of 5 euros to anyone who leaves the car at home," the Telegraph quoted Regina Götz, a former prostitute who runs the Maison d'Envie (House of Desire) brothel in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg, as saying.

The 56-year-old Götz added: "The crisis has slashed our turnover in half in the last year."

However, she also revealed that the green discounts have been popular with clients and their business is flourishing again.

Explaining how clients qualify for the discount, she said: "clients who come by bike show their helmet or their padlock keys."

"Others hand in their ticket or monthly pass if they have come on the bus."

The establishment also offers special "weekend rates" with Jacuzzi options and a two-for-one rate.

Götz believes the brothel is "a business like any other" and with prostitution being legal in Germany, with almost 400,000 employees it adds to her opinion.

She said: "In these tight times, we are cutting costs. We've binned the tax adviser, reduced the hours of the cleaning lady and I only buy low-cost cleaning products.

"In a business like ours, there are always ups and downs. But we want the recovery to come quickly. I check the stock market prices every day." (ANI)
