Younus Khan quits captaincy over "unfair criticism from all and sundry"

Islamabad, Oct.13 (ANI): Younus Khan has resigned as captain of the Pakistan cricket team after the chairman of a parliamentary committee on Sports levelled match-fixing allegations against him.

"I could not stand criticism from all and sundry as it was affecting my performance that is why I resigned," The Dawn quoted Khan, as saying.

During the hearing of the National Assembly standing committee on sports, Khan submitted his resignation to Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Ejaz Butt, who however returned the resignation to him.

Earlier, the committee chairman Jamshed Dasti had claimed that he had evidence Pakistan deliberately under-performed against Australia and New Zealand in the tournament.

Younis Khan's perspective is not for everybody to hear that is why we called him in the meeting, Jamshed Dasti had said. (ANI)

Dubai, May 10 (ANI): Younus Khan regains number-one position after West Indies' Shivnarine Chanderpaul lost his number-one position in the latest ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen after his side's 10-wicket defeat to England at Lord's.The Guyanese left-hander, who won the player of the year for 2008 at the LG ICC Awards and has been arguably the West Indies' best batsman since the retirement of Brian Lara, made just four runs in the match and, as a result, has fallen back.....
