Pakistan is not half as important as we make it, says Rahul Gandhi

Shimla, Oct 13(ANI): Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that people in India tend to spend too much of their crucial time thinking about Pakistan and emphasized that the country should rather focus on the goals which are to be achieved.

Addressing a function organised by the National Students Union of India (NSUI) during his daylong visit to Shimla, Rahul said: "I have a fundamentally different view, I don't think we are comparable to Pakistan, I don't think we should be compared to Pakistan. There is no comparison in my mind, India is somewhere else and Pakistan is somewhere else and I actually feel that we give too much time in our mind to Pakistan."

"I don't think Pakistan is half as important as we make it. I think, we as a country, have many very-very big things to do and achieve. We are a country that is on a path of development. We are now becoming a serious international player," Rahul added.

Rahul Gandhi further criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for regularly raising unnecessary issues on Pakistan and Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and said that past should be forgotten as the past.

"If you look at the BJP, they are living in the past. They are talking about Jinnah. I don't think about Jinnah for five seconds. In fact, frankly, I don't think for Jinnah for a second.

As far as I am concerned, he is gone. He is finished," Rahul said. (ANI)
