Moderate to heavy voting in assembly polls

Mumbai/Chandigarh/ Itanagar, Oct 13: Assembly Elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh has till now seen moderate to heavy voting, say media reports.

Official estimates suggest that 70 per cent of the voters exercised their franchise in Arunachal Pradesh, while nearly 50 per cent in Haryana and about 40 per cent in Maharashtra till 3 pm on Tuesday, Oct 13.

The polling in the three states started at 7 am and will end at 5 pm.

There have been few incidents of violence reported in the Haryana and Maharashtra

In a clash between rival party workers, a polling agent identified as Jyoti Ram in Gulha assembly constituency in Haryana's Kaithal district.

In Maharashtra, Naxalite infested Gadchiroli district saw some violence too. In yet another incident, Naxals opened fire at a polling station at Bonde in Korchi taluka of the district. However, no one was hurt in the incident.

Maha Polls: Shiv Sena, BJP announce alliance

Mumbai, Sep 19: While Congress and NCP continue to hold talks to formulate an alliance ahead of assembly polls, Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have reached a seat-sharing agreement for the Oct 13 Maharashtra assembly elections."Shiv Sena will contest 169 and BJP 119 seats for the 288-member Assembly," BJP general secretary Gopinath Munde said."Our dream is to come to power in Maharashtra by ousting the Congress-NCP government. Who becomes the Chief Minister is immaterial," Munde added.....
