Maoists blast rly tracks, burn trucks at Jharkhand

Ranchi, Oct 12: Maoists blew up a stretch of railway track and burnt three trucks in Jharkhand at the onset of the two-day Jharkhand-Bihar shutdown in protest against Centre's effort to curb CPI(Maoists) movement.

"They (Maoists) blew up a stretch of railway track around 2.30 am at Jharandih in the Coal belt Industrial Chord section in Dhanbad," said Senior Public Relations Officer of the Dhanbad Rail Division Amrendra Das.

Shaktipunj Express was delayed due to blast, he added.

Giridih Superintendent of police Ravi Kant Dhan said that the about 12 armed Maoists burnt three trucks at around 1 am in Giridih's Isri area and cut down trees to block road traffic on the Dumri-Giridih road.

The police officer added with explosives they also partially damaged a road bridge, which connects Dumri to the Grand Trunk Road.Maoists pasted posters in Giridih's Parasnath area.

Tight security arrangements were made in the naxal-affected districts in the state.

Orissa police arrest three Maoists

Baripada, May 22: Mayurbhanj police have arrested three Maoists, the main suspects of May 8 murder of forester Ravindra Nath Patra in Orissa. The Maoist gunmen had attacked the Sargada forest beat and shot dead the forester under Rairangpur range. Police said the arrested Maoists were also allegedly involved in a landmine blast at Sargada- Chadheipahada Road on May nine. They have been identified as Shastri Nayak of Lado village, Matka Majhi alias.....
