New Delhi: Industrial production rose by 10.4 per cent in Aug 2009 due to the double-digit growth in mining, manufacturing and electricity sectors.

Factory production also expanded by 1.7 per cent in Aug 2008.
Even manufacturing grew by 10.2 per cent, electricity rose by 10.6 per cent in Aug.

The mining sector measured the growth of 12.9 percent in the month under review.

June Infrastructure output dips to 3.4 pc

New Delhi, Aug 12: The country's infrastructure sector output grew 3.4 per cent in June, whereas it was 3.5 per cent in May. According to the data on Index of Industrial Production (IIP) released, the output rose 5.2 per cent in June 2007. The infrastructure sector accounts for 26.68 per cent of the country's total industrial output. DIPP inks deal with CMIE for IIP data

Currently, IIP is determined on 1993-94 as base year. With this having become obsolete, DIPP has now decided to compile new series based on a recent year, Commerce Ministry said on Wednesday, Nov 5.
