Diwali celebrations to light up White House

Washington, Oct 10: Barack Obama, the US President would celebrate Diwali along with other members of the community at the White House next week.

"At the East Room ceremony, the President will observe Diwali, or the 'Festival of Lights,' a holiday celebrated across faiths," announced the White House.

Obama on Wednesday, Oct14, would sign an Executive Order restoring the White House Advisory Commission and the Inter agency Working Group to address the issues of Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

For first time, Diwali, the festival of lights would be celebrated in the East Room of the White House with Obama himself present to grace the occasion.
