Nirupama Rao in Kabul, to meet Afghan leaders

Kabul, Oct 9: A day after the Taliban suicide attack near Indian embassy in Kabul, foreign secretary Nirupama Rao on Friday, Oct 9 arrived here to meet Afghan leaders and review security.

Rao will meet Afghanistan foreign minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta to discuss the situation of Thursday's Oct 8 attack which left 17 people dead and nearly 80 injured, including three ITBP personnel.

She is also likely to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai. Rao will visit the Indian embassy to see the damage done to its premises by the suicide car bomber.

Afghan Taliban threaten to kill German hostages

Kabul, July 21: Afghanistan's Taliban movement threatened to kill two German hostages if its demand were not met by 1300 hrs today, a spokesman for the militant group said. The Taliban is demanding release of all its members in Afghan prisons and the withdrawal of German troops from Afghanistan. ''The Taliban leadership council has set 12:00 (local time) as deadline for the two German hostages. And if the deadline is not met, we will.....
