Hyderabad, Oct 9: The flood water levels in Andhra Pradesh may be receding, but state's drive to rehabilitate the displaced or otherwise affected people has meet a stubborn roadblock- solidified black soil.

A two-feet high sedimentation has settled on the ground in Kurnool town. The accumulation of the black soil has solidified and is proving to be a tough challenge for the state government's sanitation work.

Unlike Rayalaseema region which has black cotton soil and red soil, the black cotton soil is more prevalent in Kurnool. The concentration of black soil heightened when the Tungabhadra and Handri river waters that flooded the houses.

With this, each house has at least two truck loads of the sedimentation including garbage, and other waste to clear.

While the state government has said that the 'Operation Clean'. will at least take a month's time to complete, the opposition claims that the country's communist neighbour, China which had experienced bigger damage under a similar circumstance was able to finish the task in a week's time.

However, in these trying times the state would benefit more from Opposition supporting the government instead of more 'mudslinging'.
