Flintoff asks selectors to keep faith in Bopara

London, Oct 4 (ANI): Andrew Flintoff, who is recovering from his sixth and final operation, has asked the England selectors to keep faith in the talent of Indian origin batsman Ravi Bopara.

Flintoff thinks dropping Bopara would be a huge mistake, saying: "Ravi is a fantastic talent for English cricket and I'm certain he'll come good in Test cricket."

"It's a joy to watch him play and he is the kind of exuberant character the game needs. I do think it's important that England should keep faith with him now.

Looking back it was a mistake to ask Ravi to bat at No 3 in the Ashes series. Someone else with more experience should have done that," the Daily Express quoted him, as saying.

"Yes, that's history now. But Ravi is one of the players who is the future of English cricket, and we should back his talent," Flintoff added.

Flintoff views his own sporting future with equanimity. He will never repeat the high points of winning two Ashes series, and knows that returning from his current injury is by no means guaranteed. (ANI)
