Vietnam vice president on five day visit to India

New Delhi, Sep.30 (ANI): Vietnam's Vice-President Madam Nguyen Thi Doan will undertake a five-day visit of India from Wednesday evening.

Madam Thi Doan will arrive in the Indian capital at 7.45 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Thursday, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna will call on the visiting dignitary at the Hotel Taj Palace. The Vietnamese vice-president will also meet with the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, L.K.Advani.

She will also address captains of Indian industry at Federation House and meet with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Madam Thi Doan will have talks with her Indian counterpart Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari at Hyderabad House on Thursday evening.

On Friday, the Vietnamese Vice-President will lay a wreath at Rajghat, the memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, on the occasion of his 140th birth anniversary.

She will visit Agra and Gaya on Saturday and will leave for Bangkok on Sunday afternoon. (ANI)

Iraq civil war is raging out of control

Washington, May 11: Richard Holbrooke, a former senior US diplomat and a possible Democratic secretary of state, today described Iraq as a ''civil war raging out of control'' and a foreign policy crisis worse than Vietnam. Holbrooke, who has served as US ambassador to the United Nations and as the top US diplomat for Europe and for East Asia, said it would likely fall to the next US president to decide whether and how to extricate.....
