Six die as boat capsizes in Kerala's wildlife sanctuary

Thekkadi (Kerala), Sep.30 (AN): In a tragic incident at least six persons, including two children, died when the boat they were riding on capsized in the Thekkadi wildlife sanctuary.

The mishap took place around 5.30 p.m when some of the persons on board suddenly veered on one side on sighting an animal. This tilted the balance of the boat and it capsized.

There were 80 persons, most of them from Karnataka, riding the boat when the tragedy occurred.

The State Government has requested for Naval helicopters for rescue operation. (ANI)

Washington, Jan 27 (ANI): An international team of researchers has engineered the genes of the medfly, which is a serious agricultural pest, to generate offspring that die whilst they are still embryos.The genes of the medfly, also known as the lethal Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata), were engineered by Ernst A. Wimmer and his team from the Georg-August-University in Gottingen, Germany.According to the researchers, the flies, when released into a wild population, could out-compete the normal male flies.....

South Korean ship crew die of food poisoning off Indian coast

Kanyakumari (TN), Feb 14 (ANI): Four crewmembers of a South Korean freighter ship off the Tamil Nadu coast died of food poisoning, officials said on Friday.On receiving SOS signals the Indian Coastguard rushed to the ship alongwith a medical team.The ship with 30 crewmembers and huge quantity of cattle feed from South Korea was on its way to Singapore via the Indian coast.All the crewmembers and the dead were taken to the Kanyakumari government hospital for.....
