Raj is like Jinnah, only worse: Bal Thackeray

Bal Thackeray
Mumbai, Sep 30: Shiv Sena supremo, Bal Thackeray likened his nephew Raj Thackeray to Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah, after drawing parallels between the two based on separatist ideologies.

"The British incited Jinnah and forced him to divide India. Now, a new Jinnah at home is dividing Marathi people," Thackeray wrote in Saamana.

In an editorial in the party's mouthpiece, Sena chief said that Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief and his estranged nephew, Raj Thackeray was keen on dividing the Marathis in order to gain power.

"But their politics is horrible than that of Muslim League. The League at least openly demanded Pakistan by dividing India," he said.

"Jinnah was used by the British to accomplish Partition. The Congress is also using 'this Jinnah' (Raj) to divide Marathi people. What else can be expected from him (Raj), who is intent on dividing Marathi people?" Thackeray said.

While blaming Congress for supporting Raj's campaign of divide and rule and using MNS to fulfill their goals, Bal Thackeray claimed that the state is now united under the leadership of Shiv Sena and that they would not be divided easily.

This comes ahead of the Oct 13 assembly polls scheduled. Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who are jointly fighting the polls released their manifesto on Monday, Sep 28 promising jobs, education, and welfare of backward classes and tribal community.

Bala Saheb, I am from north and was (still) big fan. Not sure if Shiv Sena realised that if Udhyav should have been in Lok Sabha and looking after Delhi and bigger picture of Shiv Sena in North and Raj (who is known to be more popular in cadre) should have been given charge of Maharashtra b projecting him as future CM. We, and some of those who are not very happy with BJP leadership in Delhi and NCR would have been big supporter of Shiv Sena. Just a thought of your suppoter. Regards, Sanjay
