CBI rejects reports of 'no rape' in Shopian case

New Delhi, Sept 30 (ANI): The CBI on Wednesday rejected doctors reports that one of the two women, who were allegedly raped and murdered in Shopian, was not raped.

Asiya (17), who was raped and killed during the intervening night of May 29-30, actually died a virgin, according to reports submitted yesterday by medical experts from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

According to agency sources, forensic reports to establish rape are yet to come.

The bodies of the two victims were exhumed on Monday.

The CBI recently took charge of the case from the Special Investigation Team (SIT).n September 12, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had granted bail to four policemen who were accused of having a role in the case.

The policemen-Former Superintendent of Police of Shopian Javed Iqbal Mattoo, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rohit Baskota, Station House Officer Shopian Shafiq Ahmed and Sub-inspector Gazi Abdul Rehman-were released on payment of a bond of Rs.50, 000 each.

The four had been accused of destroying evidence related to the case. (ANI)

Hope of CBI inquiry in Guj fake encounter recede

New Delhi, May 15: Chances of Supreme Court ordering a CBI inquiry in Gujarat fake encounter case receded further today when the apex court asked the petitioner whether it will be appropriate to take away investigation from Gujarat police.
