Now, Chinese incursions enter Arunachal polls

Itanagar, Sep 28: Trinamool Congress (TMC) and National Congress Party (NCP), two allies of the ruling government who are pitting against each other in the upcoming Arunachal Pradesh Assembly polls, have chosen the issue of Chinese incursions to woo the voters.

While the Chief Minister, Dorjee Khandu continues to call that Chinese claims over the state baseless, both the allies of UPA government have taken up the issue of border violation and China's claims on Arunachal as a campaign issue.

While Trinamool president, Kito Sora said that New Delhi should be bold enough in its stand against China, especially when it comes to Arunachal Pradesh; NCP leader L Wanlet alleged that the central government is 'muted' when it comes to China staking claim over Arunachal Pradesh

Apart from TMC and NCP, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) too has decided to use China conflict in poll campaigns.

"Chinese incursions are a great security threat and despite reports the Congress-led UPA government seems to downplaying such risks. It is unfortunate on the part of the central government to be taking things so lightly," said P Chandrashekhar, BJP organising secretary for the Northeast.

The assembly elections are scheduled to take place on Oct 13. Even though it is a 60 member legislature, the polls are only for 57 as three candidates already declared elected unopposed.

Congress has fielded candidates in all 60 seats, NCP is fielding 30 contestants and the Trinamool Congress 28.
