Lavalin case: CBI questions Karthikeyan, again

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 21: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) which is probing into the Lavalin case again questioned Congress leader former Electricity Minister G Karthikeyan.

According to sources, the Congress leader, who was interrogated on the graft case relating to a 1998 contract with a Canadian company, was questioned for three hours in Chennai CBI office.

It has not even been 10 days since the Congress leader was questioned by the CBI.

"I was asked to come by the CBI officials. Right from the beginning of the probe, I have told them I would fully cooperate with them," Karthikeyan told a news channel but did not give out any details on the questioning.

In the scam which started in the mid 1990's CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan is one of the accused. Karthikeyan was the Electricity Minister in the UDF government when the negotiations with SNC-Lavalin for the renovation of three hydel projects in Kerala began.

Lavalin case: CBI to prosecute Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 8: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has got the permission from the the Kerala governor R S Gavai to prosecute senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Pinarayi Vijayan  in Lavalin case. Sources said to media that R S Gavai gave his consent after a request by the CBI. Vijayan, secretary of the CPI(M) is accused of favouring SNC lavalin in granting contracts to renovate two hydro power projects when he was the state's power minister in 1977......
