Gowda contributes 20pc pay to PM's relief fund

New Delhi, Sep 21: Janata Dal-Secular, JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda has contributed 20 pc of his annual salary as an MP to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

"Keeping in view the gravity of the situation arising out of heavy floods and severe drought in different parts of the country, I wish to contribute 20 percent of my salary as a Member of Parliament for one year towards the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund," Deve Gowda said in a written communique here.

Sources said Deve Gowda sent a demand draft for Rs 38,400 dated Sep 17 as a personal contribution.

What is special about this and what is the news it has got. This is the initiative of the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. He to appealed all public servents to contribute 20 percent of their earnings. All others contributed. But how come this became a news for oneindia.
